Welcome to my little corner of the internet!

Hello! I’m Shadé Laurie Freeland, deeply passionate about celebrating the vibrant world of Black visual and material culture. My journey began at Herbert H. Lehman College in The Bronx, New York, where I earned my BA in Africana Studies—a degree that ignited my love for art, history, and heritage.

Now armed with my MA in Africana Studies with a concentration in museum studies, I’m poised to immerse myself in the captivating universe of museums, collections, and all things creative. 🎨✨

My mission is simple yet powerful: I aim to uncover hidden narratives, amplify Black creators’ voices, and infuse archival magic into every endeavor.
